President Message

Once again, we are very honoured to have Ms Sim Ann, Minister of State, Ministry of Communications and Information & Ministry of Education to be our Guest-of-Honour for our Art Exhibition, ‘Aspiration 2014′.

This year we are celebrating our 25th Anniversary. Since 2013, we have included a young talent corner as a platform for our students to express their feelings and thoughts through their artistic creations.

Last December, The Singapore Teachers’ Art Society was invited by China Haining Xu Banda Art Gallery to exhibit our members’ works and also for a cultural exchange programme with the Haining artists. The official opening was held on 11 December 2013. There were 20 of our members who participated in this exhibition with 30 pieces of artwork on display. During the cultural exchange programme, 5 artists each from Singapore and Haining demonstrated different forms of art media. The interaction between the artists from both countries was very successful.

We would like to thank Xu Banda Art Gallery and the Haining government officials for their gracious invitation, warm hospitality and friendship.

On 12 December 2013, we visited Wa Ha Ha Primary School. Our artists did a painting demonstration to the teachers and students. It was a very enlightening session with them. After the school visit, we went on a painting trip to Lishui and Xitang. Inspired by the scenery, we created some paintings from the beautiful water villages.

Last year’s annual art camp was a painting trip to Malacca during the September school holidays. There were 30 participants. We had a great time bonding with one another and at the same time capturing the scenic view on canvas. It was certainly a fruitful trip for all of us.

On behalf of our society, I would like to express my most sincere thanks to our Guest-of-Honour, Ms Sim Ann, for gracing the occasion and our Advisor Dr Ho Kah Leong for guiding us along. We especially thank National Arts Council, Ngee Ann Cultural Centre, Lee Foundation Singapore, The Singapore Arts Federation, Universal Travel Corporation and China Express Travel Pte Ltd for their continuous contribution and support.
