President Message

This year we are very honoured to have Ms Sim Ann, Senior Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Education & Ministry of Law to be our Guest-of-Honour for our Annual Art Exhibition, ‘Aspiration 2013′.

Our Society was founded in 1989. Next year will be our 25th Anniversary. All these years we have been working very hard to promote art in schools for our teachers and students. Since last year, the Annual Art Exhibition for our members also includes a young talent corner for our students to participate. We provide a platform for them to express their feelings and thoughts through their creations.

We organise Art camp and overseas painting trips for our teachers to explore more ideas for their paintings and exchange ideas with local artists and artists from other countries. These will help them to upgrade their professionalism and widen their horizon. We must have the enthusiasm and passion to always enrich our skills to so that we can sustain the interest and spirit in our teaching profession.

Art, as an aesthetics form, helps an individual develop emotionally. The process in producing a work of art can lead to the development of certain qualities in both of heart and mind. I am glad to see that the Ministry of Education has given more funds and support to schools in developing students in the area of arts.

On behalf of our society, I would like to express my most sincere thanks to our Guest-of-Honour, Ms Sim Ann for gracing the occasion. We especially thank Ngee Ann Cultural Centre, Lee Foundation Singapore, National Art Council, The Singapore Arts Federation, China Express Travel Pte Ltd and Universal Travel Corporation for their continuous contribution and support.
